When I was deciding what type of art to offer for art therapy, junk journals caught my eye for many reasons. Making something new, beautiful even, out of materials that were discarded, torn, and crumpled was a perfect parallel to healing trauma. Natasha of treasure books was one of the first people I found creating this type of art. Today I discovered that she has her own trauma and healing story that is just too beautiful not to share. I think many of you may relate to her story and if you aren't a fan of art therapy now I'm sure you will be after watching this video. This is a great example of how art therapy doesn't have to be structured or formal and can absolutely take a form as simple as torn bits of paper. If you enjoy this type of creativity I highly recommend you subscribe to her YouTube channel. Enjoy!
