If you are anything like me, you know being sensitive to the words and actions of others can be both a blessing and a curse. Something small, petty, or even just slightly annoying can have me distracted and stressed for hours or even days causing me to temporarily forget who I am and what I'm doing here on planet Earth.
Why does this happen? I've noticed that it's very easy for me to get pushed off my center when one of 3 things is going on:
- I'm not grounded in my purpose
- I'm following my fear instead of my passion
- I've wondered off the path of my right life and into the land of distractions
One of the best remedies I have found for this is to be so rooted in my vision and so blinded by the bigger picture, that I don't even notice the noise of the outside world. What does this look like for me?
It means that I'm:
- Focused on the people that I serve
- Doing things that may be out of my comfort zone but are in alignment with what I'm building
- Following my plan for becoming the best professional I can be
It also means that I'm NOT:
- Worrying about people who waste my time by being uselessly critical
- Worrying about performing every technique perfectly or avoiding failure
- Letting myself be distracting by what others are thinking or doing
Why does the technique of staying grounded in your vision work? Because pain will push you until vision pulls you.
"Pain will push you until your vision pulls you forward"
- Dr. Michael Beckwith
Hear Dr. Beckwith talk more about this here:
The shift from push to pull maybe slow and happen over time as you practice moving your focus from pain to vision BUT IT IS SO WORTH IT. So the next time you catch yourself caught up in the pain and story of something that has happened to you, ask yourself:
Did I lose focus of my purpose?
Am I grounded in my vision for my life?
What am I following, fear or passion?
Now it's your turn. Let me know in the comments below how you were able to switch from pain to vision. I LOVE reading your stories and I'm here for you on your journey to transforming trauma.
Much love and many blessings,
Meagan
